Ebube was born on 24th of February 1983 to a family of six in Anambra State but grew up in Warri, Delta state where she had her primary and secondary education. She proceeded to study Mass Communication at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigera.

Her hometown is Anambra (Nigeria). When she was 20, she has started her acting. This actress has played different roles in many Nollywood movies. Ebube grew up in Warri, Delta state, where she had finished her primary and secondary education. She also proceeded to study Mass Communication at Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Nigeria. Her parents have 6 children, Ebube is the first of them.

CAREER AND LIFE

As it is known she started her acting when she was 20. The first role in her life was offered by her friend. She has come to a casting and she has received a role.

Ebube’s journey into movies started in 2003 at the age of 20 with movies like Arrested by Love, Eyes of the Nun and Before my Eyes becoming the first three movies that brought her to limelight.

Interestingly, Ebube was still in school when she started shuffling between school and work as an actress. At that time also, she took up the responsibility of fending for her family.
Nollywood became for her the second family and the actress is very glad that she is in this place now. She didn’t say to her parents that she has begun to act in at the film because she was afraid of their reaction. Once, her father has told that he saw the similar girl on the poster near a movie theater. Fortunately, she had a good role in the movie that’s why her parents are happy and very proud that they have such a talented daughter. As every woman she also wants to find the real love. She has always believed in love and still does. Ebube’s style is always classic and simple. She never wears bright and defiant colours. «It is not mine», – she said once.
There are many discussions about Ebube Nwagbo’s wedding, because there are photos on the Internet where she is in a wedding dress. That’s the reason why everyone has begun to speak about her wedding. But actually, she acts in the movie which is called “Anniversary”, produced by Gregory Onuda and directed by Afe Olumowe. The actress said that her marriage would be in time and there is no necessity to ask her when this time would come. She is afraid of marriage because at present there are a lot of stains around us. She also said that she would not hurry up with marriage because she wants to make a correct decision. The real Ebube is not what we see on TV or read in the papers, she is different. By the way, Ebube Nwagbo’s Instagram is conducted very actively.

Having gained much ground in the movie industry, Oluebube chose to try something else. In 2012, the posh baby launched her own hair extension business called PosHHair and an entertainment company called PoshWorld production. Through these, Ebube Nwagbo has acquired for herself a number of landed properties

The Pretty damsel said she is yet to meet her prince charming, who would love her for love’s sake.
According to her, it is very difficult to know who loves you for real, if you are already a public figure and still single. However, rumor has it that the actress has dated a number of famous Nigerians like Kanu Nwankwo, Ogbonna Kanu Emmanuel Emenike and even  the popular pop singer Kcee but  has in all been disappointed because according to her, it’s a price for stardom she had to pay.

Health Tips: 5 Things You Do That Could Result In Long-Term Health Problems

$
0
0

There are many of our daily activities which seem normal that could result in health problems in the future. There are many common ones, but we’ll only take 5 in this article:

  1. Sitting for long hours

Working 9 to 5 usually involves a lot of sitting. Apart from the back pain which is a way your body lets you know that sitting for too long is not good for you, prolonged sitting can also result in bad posture, obesity, and a whole lot of health risks linked to a desk-bound lifestyle. To check this, take walks and stretches between work hours, and create time to engage your body in exercises aimed at correcting posture and burning calories.
  1. Inhaling fumes from generators and automobiles

Generators and automobiles are a necessary evil in Nigeria. The fumes they give off contain carbon monoxide which at high levels can suffocate victims, and at moderate or low levels of exposure over long periods can result in heart diseases. There have been reports of families dying in their sleep as a result of inhaling fumes given off by their generators. If your eyes smart when stuck in traffic due to accumulated exhausts, you should be thinking of safer ways to cope. Always make sure your generator (and that of your neighbor’s) is placed in an area that is well ventilated, with the pipe away from windows. While in traffic, use a handkerchief as a filter.
  1. Constantly looking at computer screens

Light emitted from the screens of computers and smartphones hardly poses a threat to our eyes. The problem is the proximity of these devices to our eyes and the prolonged length of time spent staring at them which can result in poor eyesight in the long run. The kind of light emitted by computers and smartphones is blue light (a component of white light) which is also emitted by fluorescent light bulbs and LED devices. However, we do not spend too much time staring at light bulbs. Protect your eyes by; reducing the amount of time spent on these gadgets, using screen filters, and shielding your eyes with computer glasses preferably recommended by an eye care expert.
  1. Always listening to loud sound

When our ears receive sound, tiny hair cells known as nerve endings convert them to signals which pass through nerves to the brain. Constantly exposing the ears to high sound vibrations can damage the nerve endings overtime, resulting in a noise-induced hearing loss. Once in a while, one might be in a noisy/loud environment, but taking care to avoid being the one who creates such an environment is important. Use headphones less, and always make sure to turn down the volume when using them. Turn down the volume of television and sound system speakers (and ask your neighbors to do so too). If you work in an environment that emits loud noises, consider using earplugs.
  1. Addiction to cell phones and social media

If you find it difficult keeping away from your phones, you are on the verge of an addiction already. The obsession for uploads, likes and comments (which can be interpreted as seeking approval); the anxiety you feel when you have to forfeit hours without your phone or social media; and the odd desire to always press your phone’s buttons, are telltale signs of a compulsive disorder. Could this be harmful? Psychologists think so. Resist the temptation by deliberately setting time away from your phones and sticking to it. Apps like‘Offtime’ helps in reducing phone distractions by limiting the use of apps for a set period of time.

The Federal Government has released the sum of N420.2 million to the Nigeria film industry – Nollywood to improve and support aspiring practitioners.
According to a statement issued by the Deputy Director of Information, Federal Ministry of Finance, Mrs. Patricia Deworitshe, on Friday in Abuja, the money, which is the second tranche payment will benefit 105 film distributors.

The Federal Government had earlier introduced the “Project Act Nollywood’’, with three primary components aimed at developing the movie making value chain.
The components are the Film Production Fund (FPF), Capacity Building Fund (CBF) and Innovative Distribution Fund (IDF).
The FPF and CBF have been fully implemented, while the IDF, which is the third component of the project, is on-going.Nollywood
The IDF covers online, National, Regional and community categories of Nollywood Film distribution and exhibition.
The objectives of IDF are to improve the distribution network of Nigerian Audio-Visual contents, cut down on piracy, create jobs, and protect Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) within the Nigerian Entertainment Industry.
N1.8 billion was approved for disbursement to 106 beneficiaries in this component, and N1.335 billion was disbursed earlier in the year as the first tranche to 105 beneficiaries.
Deworitshe said that before the release of the second tranche, the finance ministry had earlier carried out a successful monitoring and evaluation of the first tranche disbursement.
“Fifteen community cinemas and viewing centres have been established through the grant and this has improved the distribution network of movies in Nigeria.
“The programme has supported 18 firms in strengthening online distribution platforms, this has helped curb illegal downloads and piracy.
“Two hundred and fifty-six permanent jobs and 544 temporary jobs have been created through the financial support provided to 105 beneficiaries by the programme.’’
Deworitshe said the programme had also aided the extension of the Nollywood Industry to sub-Sahara Africa through the funding of National distributors to expand their distribution capacity and network.
She said through the programme, distributors had expanded their capacity to lip-synching their content in French for onward distribution to the ECOWAS sub-regio

Lifestyle: How to spice up a get together Party

$

0

Growing up, I remember my parents used to dress up for dinner parties hosted by clubs like Rotary or Full Businessmen Fellowship.  As a kid, I just loved knowing they were going out as a couple to wine and dine. I’d imagine the range of foods they would be privileged to eat, the music they would dance to, and the connections they would establish which meant new family friends whose homes we would visit on a weekend/Sunday.

I was oblivious to the fact that those dinners were usually meant for fundraising, regardless of the monthly financial commitments participants made to such organisations. As I grew up and saw how demanding life was on parents, I quickly surmised that being in a club of that nature wasn’t for me. Don’t get me wrong; I have nothing against charitable events. I’d just rather go to one and support without the monthly dues and multiple meetings that come with being in a club.
Most young ladies these days rarely have time for such club engagements anyway. They would rather just hang out with some friends and have a memorable time. There is just one tiny problem; how does one spice up a get together among friends that have the appeal of such club meetings without the financial burden or constraints attached?
  1. Draw up a plan

No one wants to feel pressured or dragged along, so make out time to meet with participants and decide what elements can be added to the meetup. Everyone should agree on the location and activities to be carried out. Decide if the hang out should be at a conservation center, poolside, someone’s home, the cinema, etc. Decide on what time to meet, how long the get together will be, if there will be a dress code, and basically what will be done during the meetup.
  1. Keep it Simple

Remember, your goal is to keep it free from financial burdens, so unless someone decides to handle a particular expensive responsibility, keep the plans simple. You can choose an activity based on the reason for the get together like shopping, or stopping by a fast food joint for a treat, baking or cooking together, watching a film, playing games, getting your faces beat, the list is endless really. Whatever you choose, ensure there is ample time for conversations (both group and individual discussions). Your emphasis is on quality time not necessarily a host of activities that leaves everyone exhausted and fatigued.
  1. Get food

Nothing makes a party pop like good food. Either you do a love feast where everyone brings a meal, or you get a caterer to provide meals like an array of snacks, fruits, and drinks for appetizer or desert, and/or food for the main course. It may not even be a three-course meal; you could have finger foods like ‘small chops’ or heavy meals like ‘swallow’, or a variant of rice served with Cocktails, homemade fruit drinks like ‘Zobo’, or Smoothies and ice cream. Food helps to create an atmosphere of a fun party, and the more unique the food, the better.
  1. Take pictures

Whoever has the best phone camera resolution can volunteer their gadget to be the official camera for the occasion. If any of the attendees happen to have a professional camera, that’s great. Take a group picture and individual pictures. Make goofy faces or document everything that happens like a professional photographer’s photo speak session. The better the pictures, the more likely everyone will want a memento of the event.
The next time you and your friends decide to hang out at home or have a church meeting, try these tips. Do share on other ways you can make a get together more lively in the comment session. Let’s learn together. *winks*

Jaggery: A Substitute for Refined Sugar You Should Try

$

Article By Joy Ohenwa For ConnectNigeria

Sometime last year in one of my WhatsApp chat groups, we were discussing healthy living and the refined sugar issue came up.
By this time I, like many others, had been coming up with different ways around it: using brown sugar, switching to honey, squeezing lime and lemon for tea, and even taking our cereals without any sweeteners whatsoever.
In the course of our discussion, a lady mentioned jaggery made from sugar cane too (and less commonly, date palm and coconut sap). None of us had ever heard of it, but since she runs a healthy living support business, we all listened. She told us that jaggery, which we could get from “any Indian shop”,  is a healthy alternative to white sugar, which we all know is bad for us, because in the refining process, the sugar cane is stripped of all the natural nutrients and minerals it comes with, leaving us with an end product that:
1. Depresses your immune system.
2. Contributes to diabetes.
3. Affects your body PH.
4. Increases risk of obesity in adults and children.
5. Uses up your B-vitamins, magnesium and calcium in its digestion- depleting instead of nourishing.
Jaggery on the other hand is unrefined sugar gotten from pure concentrated sugar cane juice, without all the processing that leaves us with empty calories. Jaggery is made by boiling pure sugar cane juice until it solidifies. It is then pressed into blocks and sold. Its benefits are purportedly many, not least of which are:
1. It aids digestion and prevents constipation.
2. It is a good source of iron.
3. It cleanses the liver.
4. It alleviates premenstrual symptoms.
5. It boosts your immunity and helps prevent early ageing as it is loaded with antioxidants and minerals like selenium and zinc.
Jaggery is still sugar at the end of the day, so moderation is key as always. However, it’s the best substitute for white sugar I have ever tried: tea, pap, oats, everything we use sugar for, jaggery proved great for as well. We even popped corn with it and my little boy loved it.
Probably not everyone will like jaggery, but it’s one of those things you shouldn’t knock out without trying first. You may never touch refined sugar again.

He added that the country produced teas in different regions with “distinctly different characteristics enhanced by specialised processes of manufacturing”.
The envoy expressed his country’s willingness to share its expertise with Nigeria.
“Nigeria has its tradition of tea production dating back in the 1950s.
“The country imports around five million kilogrammes of tea annually; this is not a significant volume for a population of 182 million people.
“Sri Lanka invites the beverage industry in Nigeria to partner with Sri Lanka companies and grow the tea segment,” he said.
The Global Ceylon Tea Party is a unique 24-hour celebration of 150 years of Ceylon Tea, hosted by Sri Lankan missions globally.
Sri Lanka is the world’s fourth-largest producer of tea and tea production is one of the main sources of foreign exchange which contributed more than 1.5 billion dollars in 2013 to the country’s economy.

Romance: Expert Reasons Why You Should Have Sex At 3 p.m.

A hormone expert, Alisa Vitti has explained the key to satisfying one’s partner sexually and why 3 p.m. is the ideal time for maximum mutual enjoyment of heterosexual sex.
Given that hormones have huge implications on one’s sex life, as well as the feelings you experience afterwards, Vitti states that these hormones peak and valley throughout the day, and synchronizing yours with your partner’s could lead you to even more enjoyable sex than ever.

Explaining why 3 p.m is the best time to have sex, Vitti in an interview with the DailyMail said that for women, this is when the hormone cortisol peaks, and brings with it energy and alertness. At the same time, men have high levels of oestrogen, which makes them more emotionally present during sex.

According to the author of the hormone guide, ‘WomanCode’, the key to satisfying sex is for partners to find a way to synchronise their libidos.
Another good time for sex is early to mid-morning when men’s testosterone—a hormone they produce during sleep—is highest. “Men are more interested in initiating sex during this window and are more capable of a better sexual response,” Vitti says.
But 3 p.m may require some organisation, given that most people are at work around that time, reducing the possibility of sneaking off for a quickie. However, on the weekends, you can try planning in sexy times for 3 p.m and then just do it whenever you fancy during the week.

Meanwhile, the sex education debate lingers on in Nigeria as some think it ideal for teenagers while others believe it is immoral.
There have been recent concerns raised by some parents who are worried about the way sex education is being taught in schools, while teachers feel it will guide children whose early exposure to technology makes them vulnerable.
The agitating debate is a result of some parents’ discovery that a Social Study textbook for junior secondary schools recommends masturbation as a form of sexual abstinence.
Sex education
The approved textbook titled: “Religion and National Values: Social Studies for Universal Basic Education 7 (JSS1)” identifies masturbation as a measure by which teenagers could avoid pre-marital sex, The Nation reports.
Page 50 of the said book which outlines “Ways to give and receive sexual pleasure and develop closeness without sexual intercourse” also mentions kissing, touching, hugging, mutual masturbation, companionship, sharing inmate’s thoughts, feelings, sharing fun, sharing sadness and joy as well as supporting each other.
After the public’s attention was alerted to the content of the textbook on social media, many parents, guardians and educationists condemned the book’s position on the matter, describing it as ‘unwholesome and unhealthy’ for teenagers. They also argued that the book’s prescribed means of abstinence were immoral.
In reaction, some parents, under the aegis of the Association of Concerned Mothers further staged an awareness protest in Lagos. According to the parents, it is unfair of the government to have introduced a topic such as “Sex and Sexuality Education” without due consultation with parents. They, therefore, called for its holistic appraisal with a view to either abolishing the book outrightly or deleting those aspects considered unhealthy for youngsters.

In a statement, the group threatened to sue the Lagos State government. Convener of the group, Adesuwa Onyenokwe, warned the government not to treat the issue lightly, adding that parents were ready to storm the Office of the Governor in a fierce protest.
But the Lagos State Government has since denied the existence of the textbook which encourages immoral activities in its curriculum. According to the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Mr. Adesina Odeyemi, though the ministry was aware of the textbook in question, it was not part of books reviewed and approved in the year 2013. He said the government was already collating books from interested publishers for another round of review and approval later in the year.
“This book, without prejudice to the intention of the author, and the opinion of its publishers, has not been reviewed, recommended or approved for use in any of the Lagos State public and private secondary schools,” Odeyemi said.

Currently, in the secondary school curriculum, Sex Education topics are treated under Social Studies, Civic Education, and Home Economics.

Prince Nico Mbarga Of "Sweet Mother" Biography; The Man Whose Biggest Hit Sold More Copies Than Any of the Beatles

Prince Nico Mbarga poured joy into his music, including the most popular song in African history. But his own story has never been told — until now.
Twenty years ago the man who recorded one of the most successful songs of all time was thrown off a motorbike by a car in Calabar, Nigeria. He hit his head on the road and was rushed to the hospital, where he lay for two weeks, in and out of consciousness, but deteriorating all the time. On June 24, 1997, Prince Nico Mbarga was pronounced dead.

“Sweet Mother,” his 1976 one-hit wonder, had sold at least thirteen million copies across the African continent – more than The Beatles’ bestseller “I Want to Hold Your Hand.” But no global media outlet thought to cover the life and death of the artist behind Africa’s most popular song.
Today, the only internet accounts of his life reach around four paragraphs and bookend Mbarga’s career with two big political events of the time: the Biafran War in 1967 that saw him, at 17, flee across the border to Cameroon, where he mastered the guitar; and the expulsion of undocumented migrants from Nigeria in 1983, with his band’s Cameroonian members among the two million West Africans forced to leave the country.
Politics, however, rarely frames lives quite so neatly.
narrative.ly traveled to Mbarga’s hometown to talk to his childhood friend, his wife and his mistress; tracking down his former band members from Cameroon to France to the US; prodding the memory of his octogenarian producer; and reading rare transcripts of his interviews.

Nico Mbarga’s best friend Ojong, left, and Mbarga’s widow, Esame, right.
Twenty years after his death, this is the obituary that never was.
The first place Mbarga knew, the town of Ikom was the last stop on my journey. In a modest bungalow there I met Esame, his widow, and Ojong, his best friend, on a warm evening on the cusp of the wet season. On plastic chairs in the shadow of his mausoleum, they told me about Nico Mbarga and the place he called home.
The son of a Cameroonian father and a Nigerian mother, Nico Mbarga was born in nearby Abakaliki on April 8, 1950, but grew up in Ikom. In the 1950s it was little more than a series of administrative buildings, houses and farms clumped around Cross River, surrounded by tropical rainforest, right on Nigeria’s eastern border with Cameroon.

Today Ikom is still fairly remote – the tarmac roads coming in and out quickly crumble into dirt – but back then it was positively isolated. The only way goods such as bicycles and sewing machines made their way to the village was by lighters on the river from Calabar, more than 100 miles to the south. But even in rural Ikom, all the flux of being in a British colony in Africa in the mid-twentieth century – and the trappings of modernity it entailed – had its effect.

In Ikom, Mbarga is newly remembered by a statue erected early this year. It’s a golden Mbarga in his platform shoes, standing his guitar on a plinth, looking out over the traffic of “Mbarga Junction.” Nearby, shaded by Ikom’s many red-blossomed African tulip trees, is Sweet Mother Road. And if it is sad in a sense – Lucy cried the day the statue was put up, as if it were final confirmation of his death – it does at least constitute a well-earned recognition for Mbarga at last.
Which leaves just one final question: Why have Mbarga and “Sweet Mother” been so ignored elsewhere? While the continent’s cultural contributions are generally marginalized, some African music does make it outside, from Fela Kuti’s afrobeats, to Ali Farka Toure’s Malian blues, to Ethiopia’s otherworldly-sounding jazz. The music that makes it to western ears is usually tough and cool, if not explicitly political, reflective of what many perceive must be a dark political mood.
Yet none of this music, brilliant and rich as it is, has proved as popular with Africans themselves as Prince Nico Mbarga and Rocafil Jazz’s ten-minute ode to mothers. It is played at weddings, as newlywed brides about to leave their homes for the first time dance with their mums to say thank you, at birthday parties celebrating the long lives of family grandmothers, and at Mother’s Day church services, the only secular song amongst the hymns, with worshippers swinging in the aisles adding their own “hallelujah!” to Mbarga’s lyrics. The “Sweet Mother” ideal, the all-consuming mother, not eating until her children are fed, not sleeping until they sleep, crying when they are sick, might be a little conservative, but it has deep cultural roots.

How to Enjoy Your Life Even When It Is Hard

Life can be hard. So hard that sometimes it’s difficult to see why you need to love yourself and feel comfortable with who you are.
Weight loss coaches and diet programs tell you, ‘you are too fat’, your eating habit is responsible for shortening your lifespan’, while beauty companies say, ‘you can improve your looks to look a million bucks,’ even when you have no source of income. Even society says, ‘you can’t get a job without a degree’, you are not a success without fame,’ or ‘you are not entirely accomplished when you are still single at 40.’ Thereby putting pressure on you to become a different version of yourself.

What many people fail to realize is that life is a process. With each stage comes new challenges to overcome. It’s not wrong to have an ideal body weight, to work towards or have an elevated look for specific reasons, but you must know who you are and what your values are in life in other to become your definition of success.

Steps to Loving Yourself While Striving For Self Actualization:

    1. Avoid comparison:

Nothing wears at your confidence like self-doubt or fears, borne out of comparing yourself to people who you believe are in your class. We all run different races in life, so stay on your lane ‘biko’. Don’t let social media define you or make you feel the need to be at a certain level, before you are considered a success. No need to do ‘pepper dem gang’. What you should be comparing instead, are your personal goals at each stage of your life. Your motive for achieving them should be deeply yours, not because you feel you are in competition with anyone.

    2. Do what makes you happy:

Give yourself a treat. If working out gives you a burst of energy you need, or allows you wear that dress you love, then, by all means, do it. If you are a plus size, don’t try to squeeze into a size ten outfit. Wear your actual size while working on becoming a size 10. Eat healthily and celebrate your 1 or 2 kg loss. If you fall off the wagon, get back up. If you love watching films/TV series, have a structured lifestyle that will allow you do so without becoming lazy. Bottom line, create time for those things that make you happy.

    3. Create a support system:

There are people in your life that understand you and what you want for yourself. They’ll push you till you activate your latent potential and turn it into the real deal. You need to keep those people close and spend time with them. The more they challenge you, the sooner you can get off your bum and get to work on your dreams, or, take on those things that weigh you down. They know when to praise you, when to tell you the hard truths and when to assist you. Surround yourself with people who believe in you and what you are capable of, and soon you’ll see yourself pushing to be all you can be.

    4. Positive affirmations work:

You can only go as far as you believe you can. So speak to yourself words of life and encouragement and have faith in the words you speak. Don’t have a defeatist mindset; that negates your brain’s ability to find solutions to the problems around you. Find your sense of self-worth and completion from within, rather than be tied to external factors you can’t control. As a man thinks in his heart, so he is. So think on things that are of good report, praiseworthy, mentally uplifting, and soon your thoughts will become your actions, and you’ll form the right habits to get you to your goals.
You cannot give what you don’t have, and ‘boy, this world needs a lot of love!’ There is only ‘one you’ with your DNA sequencing in the whole world, and you only have one life to live. Make the most of it by loving yourself.

Tip Of The Week; 7 Useful Items You Call Trash, See their purposes

Just before you toss these items in the trash, here is what you can do with them.
    1. Egg shells:
Turn egg shells into an excellent scouring powder. Dry the shells then crush them till the particles are fine and store them in a dry airtight container.

    2. Old clothes:
Clothes that are too threadbare to be given out can be turned into something more useful. Strands made from old clothes can be woven and sewn into colourful handmade foot mats.
    3. Newspapers:
Stuff shoes and empty handbags with old newspapers to keep them in shape. Also, line surfaces like kitchen tops with newspapers when working so that it is easier to clean up after work.
    4. Electric iron:
An old electric iron could save the day when there’s no electric power supply. Simply cut off the electric cord and place the iron over a hot stove to heat it up whenever you need to straighten your clothes.
    5. Orange peels:
Orange peels can serve as an air freshener. Boil orange peels in water to give your kitchen a zesty aroma. To freshen up rooms, cut an orange in half and scoop out the fleshy content. Then add two table spoons of salt and rub around the inside. Place in a bowl and in areas where you want to freshen up. As the salt absorbs moisture and foul odour, the peel releases its aroma in the room.
    6. Body musk bottles:
Fill an empty body musk bottle with water and use as a spray can for laundry in place of a steam iron. The faint scent of the perfume would still be in the container and will keep your clothes fresh. Alternatively, it can be used as a handy moisturising spray bottle for your hair.
    7. Cartons:
Create more space in a scantily layered wardrobe by arranging items in labelled cartons and placing each carton on the other. It would be easier to keep and find items when they’re organised this way; this also saves you time.
